18. Lomborg: Wind power is cheap only compared with other alternative energies. - Slate Magazine
Efforts to stem global warming have nurtured a strong urge worldwide to deploy renewable energy. As a result, the use of wind turbines has increased tenfold over the past decade, with wind power often touted as the most cost-effective green opportunity. According to Connie Hedegaard, the European Union’s commissioner for...

19. Are wind farms bad for your health? | Express Yourself | Express.co.uk - Home of the Daily and...
LIKE creatures from The War Of The Worlds they frantically wave their arms across the scenery as if semaphoring to some distant ally. Not only is it impossible to avoid them, placed as they are but their ceaseless movement draws the eye from wherever else it may rest. Nobody with an ounce of respect for the countryside could have permitted their erection. These were the words as long ago as 1995 of Sir Simon Jenkins, now chairman of the National Trust. He was describing a wind farm perched on the Cemmaes mountain ridge in mid-Wales. Once an “unsullied panorama of British landscape” it had been “defaced” by the construction of 24 giant wind turbines.Since then great swathes of the UK’s greenest pastures have been ravaged, the landscapes not only assaulted by the alien structures but also by the access roads dug to build and service them.

20. More misinformation on wind | Roger Helmer MEP
A Policy Brief on wind power has been sent to Westminster MPs, aiming to counter recent criticism of the economics of wind farms. Prepared by the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change, backed by Lord Stern, it contains a spectacular omission which wholly undermines its case. And the omission is so elementary, and on such a scale, that it is difficult to see the Policy Brief as anything other than a deliberate attempt to muddy the water.

22. The persistent mythology of wind power | Roger Helmer MEP
Great way to spend an evening. Last night over dinner I started reading this report, or at least the Executive Summary. I feared that the other seventy pages of detail and statistics might have impinged on my digestion. I note that the work was conducted by BiGGAR Economics for DECC and RenewableUK. Pause for a moment and reflect. What does it tell us about the impartiality of the report — and, indeed, the impartiality of DECC — when the report is co-commissioned by the wind industry?

24. Most Black Ferguson Residents Complaining of 'White Power Structure' Didn't Vote
After Michael Brown’s death, left-wing activists, pundits, and the mainstream press have been blasting and maligning Ferguson’s “white power structure,” likening the city to a town in the Jim Crow South. They have lamented that though the city is nearly 70% black, “five of Ferguson’s six city council members are white” and “six of the local school board’s seven members are white.” Ferguson’s mayor, James Knowles, is also white. Even worse to the mainstream press and left-wing activists is that he’s a Republican. But in trying to further the narrative that the “white power structure” was somehow imposed on Ferguson’s black residents, few have overtly made the point that Ferguson’s black residents could have easily voted out these officials. And they did not. Knowles, who was first elected in 2011, actually ran unopposed in 2013.

25. I don't heart RenewableUK - Telegraph Blogs
Nothing definite yet, just a hunch, but any day now I reckon, I shall be on the receiving end of a lengthy litany submitted to the Press Complaints Commission by one of the most loathsomely vile and leprous organisations it has ever been my misfortune to share a country with. I refer, of course, to the wind industry's propaganda arm: RenewableUK.Why am I expecting a PCC complaint? Only because it's the kind of thing RenewableUK does, all too often, to anyone who has the temerity to tell the truth about the wind industry, which is that it's so noisome, greedy, destructive, repellant and wrong in pretty much every conceivable way that it makes the land-mine industry look about as soft and cuddly as a firm specialising in organic, ethically-sourced teddy bears for children in Great Ormond Street hospital.

27. “Demand-side management”: Blackouts by another name..and why “green energy” is economic nonsense | Roger Helmer MEP
In a recent speech Ed Davey announced that energy intensive companies would be paid to switch off their machinery during times of high demand. As many have noted, this not what happens in healthy energy markets. Although this policy is called ‘demand-side management’, jargon does not disguise what is still a blackout. But simple economics can determine a much better approach to energy policy than the managed decline preferred by the deeply unpopular minority party in the coalition.

28. Wind farms given £34m to switch off in bad weather: Households stung by secretive payments |...
Wind farm operators were paid £34million last year to switch the turbines off in gales. Two days last week saw householders effectively hand £400,000 to energy firms for doing nothing. The arrangement compensates wind farms for the National Grid’s inability to cope with the extra energy produced during high winds.

29. The Appalling Ignorance of the Climate Change Committee | Roger Helmer MEP
The Climate Change Committee is (it claims) “an independent committee” created under the terms of the infamous Climate Change Act 2008. Independent maybe, but fully bought-in to the IPCC carbon fantasy.Their latest pronouncements show a mind-boggling degree of ignorance. How can these people, utterly detached from the real world, advise government on anything? And how shall we cope with the economic fall-out from their prescriptions? See a report on their statement here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/9362804/Greenhouse-gas-emissions-fell-last-year-but-only-because-of-milder-weather.htmlLet’s see what they said.“Greater investment is needed in low carbon energy including wind power”. Haven’t they read all the research on emissions from systems consisting of wind plus back-up? Don’t they know that emissions savings from wind power are trivial or zero? That it’s just money spent on political gestures and garden ornaments, not power generation?

30. Big Wind: the most corrupt and corrupting industry in the world – Telegraph Blogs
There's an excellent article in the Copenhagen Post which I'm going to reprint here in full. It's by a retired high court judge called Peter Rørdam. I'm reprinting it because apart from the place names, every last detail applies to the UK wind industry too. And – from what I've seen personally – the Australian one. And the US and Canadian ones as well. The reason the industry is so corrupt is quite simply that without the lies it tells as a matter of course and without the cosy stitch-ups it arranges with regulators and politicians at taxpayers' expense, it simply would not exist. Take the noise regulations which are currently the subject of an enquiry by the Institute of Acoustics. The reason these noise regulations so badly need re-examining is that the original parameters for noise limits were set by people working for the wind industry with a vested interest in making it as easy as possible for wind farms to be built in as many places as possible. They make no allowance whatsoever for the damage to human health now known to be caused by Low Frequency Noise which – hey guess, what? – isn't even measured by the tame acoustics experts who work on behalf of the wind developers because the system has been rigged so they don't have to.

32. Brighton has become an object lesson in why it is a disaster to vote Green » The Spectator
I have just moved back to Brighton, and I am happy to report that it remains as shambolic as ever. The estate agent said before opening the door to a prospective flat, ‘I’m obliged by law to tell you that the previous tenant was an alcoholic and died here.’ I replied, ‘I am not surprised and that is not a problem.’ No one who knows Brighton expects puritanism.Unfortunately, we have grown to expect dreadful politics. Since 2010, both the MP and the council have gone Green, turning the town into a laboratory for their kooky ideas.
