337. Nevada Governor Sandoval Calls Federal Cattle Roundup "Intimidation" | The Minority Report...
Nevada is a state that has more than 80% of its land area claimed as Federal Lands by the Federal Government and the Bureau of Land Management. To many, Nevada should be able to control all land within its borders if Nevada is truly to be considered a sovereign state. Now Federal Agents from the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Parks Service are surrounding Cliven Bundys ranch where he and his ancestors have had grazing rights since 1877 to seize hundreds of cattle belonging to Bundy. Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval is calling this action by the U.S. Federal Government Intimidation and has asked for a reconsideration of the action.

338. Why is the US economy doing better than the UK? | John Redwood's Diary
All the so called neo-Kenysians are out and about telling us that the US is recovering well owing to further fiscal stimulus, whilst the UK is said to be faltering thanks to a government cutting too far and too fast. It is time to debunk this nonsense.Let me start by saying I think Keynes was a great economist. His insights into the creation of money, inflation, and growth are important. All mainstream political parties are heir to his traditions in several respects. All agree that the state should borrow to offset a fall in demand in a recession. All agree that there needs to be controls over money and credit creation with a monopoly money system organised by the state. The Central Bank has to decide on overall levels of money and credit. They do not, however, tend to follow his precepts in a boom, when they ought to be asking the state to control spending and repay debt.

341. There’s a Mood-Altering Drug in the Water Supply and You Probably Didn't Even Know it | The Blaze
Putting fluoride in the water to prevent tooth decay has been a long-time practice that is still not without its controversy, but another substance thats associated with mood-altering effects could be lurking in your the drinking supply and it got there naturally.Anna Fels, a psychiatrist and professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, wrote in a New York Times op-ed over the weekend that lithium, an antimanic drug that decreases abnormal brain activity, is present in varying levels in the water supply and has been largely ignored for over half a century. If you didnt know, lithium was also included in early recipes of the soda 7Up.

350. Double standards?
Today I wish to contrast the way politicians and some in the press respond to bad conduct in banking and in healthcare. It seems to me that we overdo the allegations and the expression of revulsion when bad bankers are revealed, whilst taking an altogether more relaxed attitude to healthcare errors.Barclays has recently been fined 290 million. It has admitted that some traders acted in a way designed to promote the banks and their own personal interests which sought to distort an interest rate in the markets. The traders have all been fired and are the subject of regulatory and criminal investigation to see if further action should be taken against any of them under the law.

351. Memo to the Duke of Gloucester: royals are supposed to cherish their country, not destroy it...
The other day I had lunch with one of those rare MPs who believes in old-fashioned nonsense like duty, integrity and public service. No, it wasn't Tim Yeo: try again.Anyway, this politician's analysis of what's wrong with contemporary British politics was deeply depressing. The reason the people in Westminster are of such low calibre, he argued, is that they reflect a much broader malaise in the populace at large. Everyone's on the make; everyone feels it's the state's job to bankroll their lifestyle; nobody has any sense of personal responsibility, not even those to whom traditionally at least we have looked for our example.
