- 209. Bangladesh Bank exposed to hackers by cheap switches, no firewall- Business Insider
DHAKA (Reuters) - Bangladesh's central bank was vulnerable to hackers because it did not have a firewall and used second-hand, $10 switches to network computers connected to the SWIFT global payment network, an investigator into one of the world's biggest cyber heists said.

- 211. Climate scientists: not evil, maybe a bit stupid, definitely in a world all of their own –...
The Durban climate conference has been an abject failure. But that hasn't stopped those who were there desperately trying – with all the plausibility of Monty Python's Black Knight – to spin their disaster as though it represents some kind of massive triumph. Among them is a man named Michael Jacobs, formerly climate adviser to Gordon Brown. In his Guardian column today, Jacobs argues that "the conference that has ended in Durban, South Africa, amid considerable drama, should be regarded as very much a success."I disagree. And today we met on Sky News to discuss it.By the time Jacobs left he was not a happy bunny. He left the set very quickly, apparently not a little discombobulated that I had just accused him (off camera, unfortunately) of talking "weapons-grade b***ocks". But then, he had started it by turning to me immediately after we'd done our recording and saying: "You are entitled to your opinion. What you are not entitled to are your own facts."

- 213. Bees Doing Just Fine, Finds EU, but Continues to Ban the Pesticide Which Didn't Harm Them
The EU has banned neonicotinoids because they harm bees even though there's no evidence that they do bees any harm. It continues to ban neonicotinoids even though it has now produced a report confirming that bees aren't in trouble, except because of global cooling.

- 214. Another environmentalist goes sceptic | Roger Helmer MEP
According to the Good Book, “there is joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth”. And recently, we’ve had several. There was George Monbiot, long-time anti-nuclear campaigner, recently converted to the nuclear cause (although for the bad reason that it cuts CO2 emissions). There was James Lovelock, of the Gaia Hypothesis, who has said “Twenty years ago we knew where the climate was going. Now we don’t”. And now we have Fritz Vahrenholt.

- 216. American economic strengths we could copy | John Redwood's Diary
Yesterday I argued that the US was not growing faster than the UK because it was enjoying a larger fiscal stimulus. Most of you agreed, but some were extremely sceptical of the quality and sustainability of US growth. Today I wish to look at the factors that are assisting the US growth rate. I understand that there is still too much unemployment in the USA, and that some people’s living standards have been badly squeezed. However, the official figures drawn up under international public sector accounting conventions do show faster growth in the USA last year and this, than in troubled Europe. Some have rightly observed that the USA now has very cheap energy in the form of low priced gas, thanks to its enthusiastic embrace of shale gas. Mr Obama was dismissive of Sarah Palin’s “Drill baby, drill” remark when asked about energy policy, yet his administration seems to be adopting it as a practical means of cutting energy bills and providing a big stimulus to industry. The Uk needs to pursue cheaper energy policies, as I have often argued here.

- 217. Market failure? Or policy and regulatory failure? | Roger Helmer MEP
I have been struck by an article from 1999 by Steven A. Holmes, recently re-printed in the New York Times. He says quite explicitly that the Clinton Administration was pressuring Fannie Mae to relax lending criteria and increase housing loans to low and middle-income Americans, and minorities, who would otherwise not qualify. So at least to start with, the growth in sub-prime lending was not about spivs earning bonuses — it was the Democratic Administration’s considered policy.

- 219. Water, water everywhere, but not enough to water the plants?
Water management is a Cinderella subject for Manifesto writers that should in 2015 come to the political ball. We both have too much of it at time of flood, and too little of it in times of drought. There is nothing new about this. All my lifetime we have alternated between difficult floods in winter and water rationing in hot summers. Some say this is going to get worse. That’s even more reason for us to get better at preventing these extremes of outcome.

- 220. Lord Stern: Ignorant and reckless | Roger Helmer MEP
Lord Stern’s new book “Blueprint for a Safer Planet” has just been launched, with a broadside against the “sceptics”, who are “ignorant and reckless”. He continues “the science is sound: greenhouse gases trap heat … the logic of the greenhouse effect is rock-solid”, and he proceeds to compare sceptics with those who deny the link between smoking and cancer, or between HIV and AIDS.I suppose we should at least be grateful that unlike some hot-headed Warmists, at least he doesn’t compare us to Holocaust deniers.Sadly, it is Lord Stern himself who is ignorant and reckless.

- 221. Queensland turns the tide of environmental lunacy – Telegraph Blogs
Just a fortnight, now, before I fly to God's Own Country to promote Killing The Earth To Save It (Connor Court) and tell the Aussies some home truths about the great global warming swindle. But do you know what? I think, to judge by the Queensland election results, one or two of them might have twigged already. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that those Queenslanders have just won the climate war equivalent of El Alamein. (H/T Bob Carter, Stefan Bjorklund, Sonya Porter, Mark Hatherly)

- 223. Coming 2016: All-Out War On So-Called `Social Justice`
In 2016, battle lines will be drawn. On one side, people of all colours, genders and orientations are rallying around the flag of freedom of speech. On the other, a nasty set of authoritarians are rallying around a flag that identifies as a flag only on Mondays, uses they/them pronouns and will try to get you fired or expelled from school if you forget it........I mean, for instance, is there a class of people dumber and less well qualified to talk about gender relations than Gender Studies graduates? It’s like getting wildlife advice from a guide who’s terrified of animals. “So tell us about the animals in this zoo.” “THEY ALL TERRIFY ME, I NEVER LEAVE THE RANGER STATION!” I’m sorry, but nobody needs sex advice from a silly little girl who’s not only never had any, but is actively terrified of men and penises. Get your sex advice from where all sensible people get it: your depraved uncle Milo.
