85. Is a `Transgender Day Of Remembrance` really necessary? - Spectator Blogs
On hearing that a ‘transgendered flag of remembrance’ was being flown by a government department for the first time (the Department of Education, on November 20th, the Transgender Day Of Remembrance) I was reminded of that old line about prison food – ‘It’s rubbish, and there’s not enough of it!’ It seems the height of duplicity that the sort of people who would mock a flag being flown to support our war dead (indeed, they might well use it as an excuse to break out the DIE TORY SCUM spray-paints) suddenly approve of running a bit of flimsy tat (which looks unpleasingly as if an Argie flag got put in a washing machine with a job-lot of red bedding) up a flagpole to celebrate a man’s right to tuck his tail between his legs and call himself Linda.

86. Tory Wars: Every National Scandal Will Now Involve Cameron's Successors Positioning Themselves
Acting as a human buffer in the House of Commons chamber yesterday, the insurmountable Eric Pickles separated Michael Gove and Theresa May, the two Conservative cabinet ministers who have been warring recently. When the Home Secretary gave way for the Education Secretary she tried to shuffle past Pickles, handbag in hand, presumably with the intention of leaving the chamber. Pickles blocked her path, shot her a cold glance, and pointed his finger at the empty space next to Gove. May reluctantly sat down and was forced to endure the ensuing sparkling performance of her colleague.

87. It would cost me my job, but here's my blueprint for how Britain can escape the EU | Mail...
What would happen if we left the EU?Michael Gove is the most senior minister so far to suggest that the Prime Minister’s declared policy — to recover powers from the union while remaining a member — can’t succeed without a credible threat of withdrawal. The Education Secretary is absolutely right: there is no chance of our own EU officials seeking the meaningful repatriation of powers, let alone the EU granting it, unless everyone understands that we will otherwise leave. This isn’t something we can bluff about. We have to be prepared to walk away if our minimum terms are not met.So what would happen if we reached that position? What if the EU refused to meet our bottom line? What if we were left with no alternative but to pull out?

88. Climategate goes American: NOAA, GISS and the mystery of the vanishing weather stations –...
For those who haven't seen it, here's a link to US weatherman John Coleman's magisterial demolition of the Great AGW Scam. I particularly recommend part 4 because that's the one with all the meat. It shows how temperature readings have been manipulated at the two key climate data centres in the United States – the NASA Goddard Science and Space Institute at Columbia University in New York and the NOAA National Climate Data Center in Ashville, North Carolina. (Hat tip: Platosays)This is a scandal to rank with Climategate. What it shows is that, just like in Britain at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) temperature data records have been grotesquely distorted by activist scientists in order to exaggerate the appearance of late 20th century global warming. They achieved this – with an insouciant disregard for scientific integrity which quite beggars belief – through the simple expedient of ignoring most of those weather station sited in higher, colder places and using mainly ones in warmer spots. Then, they averaged out the temperature readings given by the warmer stations to give a global average.

89. Young people are going to bad universities to study subjects no employers want. This tragedy is...
Surprised to hear that more than 20,000 graduates from the year of 2011 were still unemployed six months after they graduated? We shouldn't be. This is a full-scale tragedy written, orchestrated and adapted for real life by the Government, and the victims are our young people. We need to see the figures that show employment numbers broken down to show the difference between the "new" universities, and Oxbridge or older, more established universities. We need the figures broken down also by degree subject. If they are, we start to see the true story: aspirational young people encouraged to go to universities that lack credibility to study subjects employers don't want. Result? Massive debt, wasted years and slapping hamburgers in an outlet where the manager joined McDonald's straight from school.

91. DAILY MAIL COMMENT: How quangos are still in Labour's iron grip | Mail Online
Ousted Labour quangocrat Sally Morgan has scored a dramatic own goal against her party by accusing David Cameron of stuffing public bodies with Tory supporters. For her bitter outburst – the very opposite of the truth – has succeeded only in highlighting Labour’s overwhelming domination of these supposedly apolitical, taxpayer-funded authorities.Indeed, one of the most underhand achievements of the last government was ruthlessly to remove huge areas of public administration from democratic control, swelling quangos’ powers and putting its own placemen in charge.

95. Maps Developed in Secret Suggest EPA May Be Expanding Regulation
BISMARCK, N.D. — A map developed by the EPA and released to a U.S. House committee investigating controversial proposed water regulations should have citizens concerned, says U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer. “It is certainly alarming the EPA would develop these maps in secret and only release them after being confronted by members of Congress,” Cramer, a Republican, said in a news release accompanying his office’s release of the maps. “The EPA has been hiding information which could upset the public and jeopardize its massive power grab of unprecedented authority over private and public water.”

96. Syria vote: Michael Gove disgusted at Labour MPs cheering like a 'football match' at result of Syria vote while Children were dying | Mail Online
Michael Gove today accused Labour MPs of behaving like fans at a ‘football match’ cheering at the result of the Commons vote against military action in Syria. The Education Secretary condemned the Ed Miliband’s party for ‘celebrating’ at a time when ‘children had been killed by a ruthless dictator’.In the corridors of Parliament afterwards Mr Gove, a staunch backer of military action in Syria, shouted 'you're a disgrace' at those MPs who opposed the Government in the tense vote.Today the Cabinet Minister admitted he had become ‘heated’ but stepped up his criticism of the behaviour of Labour MPs.Mr Gove told BBC Breakfast: ‘I did become heated last week, that is absolutely right.‘At the moment that the Government lost the vote on the motion, there were Labour MPs cheering as though it were a sort of football match and they had just won.‘At the same time on the news, we were hearing about an attack on a school in Syria and the death toll there rising.‘And the incongruity of Labour MPs celebrating as children had been killed by a ruthless dictator, I am afraid got to me and I did feel incredibly emotional. I do feel emotional about this subject.’
